If you don’t pay attention to your inner growth and your mindset, you will likely keep repeating the same mistakes over and over (and over).
One important aspect of our mindset is our perception of the past. Our identity is mostly shaped around our past experiences, and it plays a huge role in our relationship with ourselves, other people and how we perceive the world.
A wise man once told me:
Every negative experience in your past is an unlearned lesson.
In other words, If you still perceive a past event as negative, there is still a lesson waiting for you there.
When you think about this and reflect on your past experiences, you’ll see the truth in this statement, and if not, it means you will likely keep carrying a burden that doesn’t even belong to you.
One of the best gifts you could give to yourself is to make peace with your past, whatever you’ve gone through.
We all have the power and capacity to do that, if even people like Victor Frankl, who has gone through the horrible holocaust experience, and instead of living the rest of his life in despair, helped millions and became a huge inspiration for people. And throughout history, it’s possible to find so many people who have done the same, who took their lessons from their past and turned them into a strength to help themselves and others.
We can learn from and even feel grateful for our past negative experiences because of how they helped us grow and become the person we are today. Until the time we choose to make peace with our past, it will keep draining the life energy within us.
So I’d like to invite you to reflect on your past, all your negative experiences and how they helped you to become the person you are today. When you do that, those experiences will become your allies for a more beautiful, fulfilling, and meaningful life.
